One of the trouble spots for electrics on board is with connections made to the mast. Flushing seawater, rainwater and damage from footsteps are just some of the hazards. Elvabro in Sweden claims to have solved the problem by making all connections below deck with the help of its Cableport 12.
Made of
stainless steel, this cable guard requires no chemical sealant after
installation and is easy to open when changes to cable wiring are
required. It is watertight, can be stood on and does not catch rigging
or ropes. The Cableport 12 is already available in Sweden and Norway. The company is now looking for agents in Germany, France and the UK.
